The Audacity of the Audacious…. The Presidential Debates!

"I hate that s.o.b."
I have to admit that watching last night’s debate between Obama and Romney was very entertaining providing the audience with both drama and comedy. However, it became very obvious immediately afterwards, as the stats from various polls taken by the news agencies which carried the debate indicated that there was no REAL and UNDISPUTED champion crowned.  Was that a disappointment or a surprise?
Personally I think it was a bit of both and here is why.

Obama had gotten his ass and spinal cord realigned by Romney’s steel toe boots in the previous debate, so naturally his supporters (yes that includes me) expected him to come out firing like the Guns of Navarone.  That didn’t happen.  Instead he came out with a bb gun.  A lot of good that’s going to do when you are dealing with a thick skull pachyderm like Romney.  And it didn’t.  Yes, to his credit Obama did make some good points and landed a few punches at his opponent but nothing to write home about.  The highly anticipated TKO didn’t happened.  Rumour has it that Romney was inoculated with the polytetrafluoroethylene vaccine also known as Teflon, just before he went on stage.  It didn’t matter what Obama threw at him nothing stuck. And that’s the disappointing part.

The surprising part was that Obama seemed more eager to engage Romney, was aggressively confrontational and took the fight to Romney.  Unlike the previous debate when most of us thought he was going to pull a “Biden move" and fall asleep on live national broadcast, the president was alert throughout the debate he stayed his ground.  So that was a welcomed surprise to all of us who like respect and support him.   Nevertheless, Romney who was protected with a very thick Teflon coating was able to withstand and refute everything Obama threw at him and some.

Of course in the final analysis these debates are proving to be time wasting, frustrating and confusing.    Claims, accusations and counter accusations go unanswered unexplained and provide little if any verifiable information to the audience.  The debates do not convert anybody from the other’s base and at best they confuse those whom they are both courting and need- namely independents and undecided.    So if there is anything you can walk away with from these debates is the fact that…and this is an UNDISPUTED FACT…there is nothing to walk away with.

Again This Is Not News….It’s American Politics.

  1. You are funny and totaly correct. I will not watch another debate because like you said we get nothing out of them. You watch these guys hoping to get the truth out of them and all you get is "accusations and counter accusations". You hit the nail on the head buddy. You don't know who to believe any more. The media is not any better because they don't push them for facts they just let them go back and forth. They both tell us their plans will fix this country's problems but ask them to offer proof and you will get that dumbfounded look on their faces. So no more debates for me. On voting day I shall cast my vote for my neighbour's cat Fartsi.
