I don’t know what debate Americans were watching last night but if I were to guess based on the commentaries by the news pundits, I would say it was not the same one I was watching.  It’s quite a contradiction between the European audience the great majority of whom had the VP as the clear winner and the American audience who gave Ryan the lead.  To me, as to all of my friends who watched the debate, Ryan looked like the little school boy who was being scolded by his teacher or his mother for fibbing or misbehaving.  All Paul Ryan needed last night was a dunce hat and to be sent to the corner.  Personally I think Joe Biden kicked Ryan’s ass and some.  But then again I was watching the debate as a non-American which gave me a much clearer and independent view.
Now I know Republicans make a big deal about the VP’s style…calling him condescending, rude, and out of control because of his smirks, laughs, interjections and interruptions.  But to be honest, that is exactly what he had to do.  He was not about to put up with the same Republican scripted “malarkey” that the President tolerated from Romney last week.  He smirked when he knew Ryan was bullshittingl, he laughed when Ryan was making laughable statements, he interjected with facts when Ryan was lying, he was serious  when asking Ryan direct questions and he interrupted when Ryan was insulting everyone’s intelligence by delivering the usual verbal diarrhea Romney and his cronies usually do.
 In the final analysis, I as the rest of the non-Americans, believe that Joe Biden not only hit the debate out of the park he kicked Ryan’s ass back into the septic tank.
