The Inhumanity Of War!

Right off the start I have to say that the latest video of American soldiers behaving like the barbarians they are supposed to be protecting us from, is unacceptable by anyone’s moral values. I have said time and time again that war begins where logic ends. In the opinion of this writer, behaviour such as exhibited by these marines should be punishable by death. Having stated that, and in the common knowledge that such punishment is very unlikely, I have to settle with whatever punishment the American military decides to impose on these morons.

Of course in order to be fair in my criticism of the American marines I have to say that such inhuman barbaric disgusting and idiotic behaviour is not in anyway typical or the norm in American or Western military practices. However, I would sound like a hypocritical supporter of the “other side” if I fail to mention the indisputable fact that indeed the “other side's" fighters can be held responsible for much worst inhuman, barbaric, disgusting and idiotic behaviour.

So let’s not overreact to this incident, as such atrocities have been exhibited and practiced by warriors through out our “human history” in fact, since man set foot on earth.  This type of behaviour was more common and much more frequent in past conflicts than they are in current military engagements. Now as I said at the beginning this kind of behaviour is unacceptable - at least to those of us capable of rational thought- regardless of nationality, religion or genetic stock. The point I want to make is that actions such as these should be condemned by ALL and ALWAYS regardless of WHO did the DEED.

Below are some examples that should make us ALL stop, think and reconsider the loudness of our criticisms…and these my friends are accounts recorded in the 20th century!

The methods and techniques of torture and murder which were applied in these conflicts leave the human mind numb and the heart frozen. The only difference between then and now is the communications technology which makes the information globally available instantly.

  1. Very well put. Judging from your table of atrocities, it shows very clearly that we haven't learned anything from past history but yet we like to hold ourselves as the most advanced species of the animal kingdom. Well those pictures and the table of deaths you presented make me think that we are not much better than the wild animals who at least kill only to feed themselves. I feel those soldiers who videoed these disgusting acts should be punished severely.
    That's my view.

  3. life would not be fun if we weren't killing eachother would it now????

The soldiers of any army who commit stupid acts like that should be immediately executed to set a lesson for others.

    1. I couldn't agree more. We are Americans and should be setting the example for others to follow. I thought we had learned after what happened in the Abu Ghraib prison. I guess not.

  4. Although no one can truly understand the psychological state of individuals engaged in combat and how this motivates their behaviour, these actions are always deplorable. I suppose the affront is really to our assumption of civility in human beings as being an inherent characteristic of our species. However, when one realizes that these layers of "humanity" are the result of a concerted effort (e.g. education, philosophy, behavioural control etc) and that beneath them all we really are as savage, if not more, than the animals to which we consider ourselves superior, there is really nothing shocking about the actions of men and women during conflicts.

  5. Can you please translate that to English? If I wanted to be listening to "tongues" I would be listening to Sarah Palin and Fox news?

  6. Wow! You must be the first intellectual I have seen on this blog for a long time. Very interesting view of the human psyche and one I agree with may I add. We are all the product of our social environment, hence we behave accordingly. As humans we tend to recognize, mostly instinctively, the social behavioural parameters of our immediate environment and of course, act accordingly. However, as the 'civility' of that behaviour is dependant upon the external forces influencing our primal instincts, I must therefore submit to you, that your inference to 'civility' becomes a psychological attachment to one's subconscious primitive mode of self-survival. Of course, in such a primitive state of mind, one can, and one does quite readily, find one's self committing such 'deplorable' acts without the consideration of social law and order playing a deterring role. In other words the human obligation of respect and civility toward others, takes a back seat to our primal instinct of “your death - my survival”.

  8. To all you gibberish speaking intellectual cave-man psychologist A-holes, trying to explain the marine's behavior, I will give you the answer to your dilemma. It's called ADRENALIN under extreme life and death fighting conditions. We are soldiers. We are taught how to kill another human being in the most effective and demoralizing ways and everybody is ok with that. But your fuckers are the first to jump in and judge us because we piss on the corpses of the bastards who were trying to kill us minutes before that? Fuck you all. I don't see you intellectuals volunteering to go and fight these animals and religious fanatics who think by killing us and decapitating us gets them into paradise with a dozen virgins. So once again unless you are willing to fight beside me Fuck You.

Signing off and hoping to see you on the street

    1. Damn straight and right on brother. These fuckers send us in to do the fighting and killing for them but think they have the right to sit back on their couches criticize us and tell us how to do our job and how to behave. Fuck them is right.

    2. The comment was in defense of men and women and combat by pointing out it is our human nature to behave like animals. The point is not to expect people who are subjected to the stresses of war and violence to behave any differently when at the bottom line we are all savages...the difference being that in civilian society we don't act on it because in that context the behaviour is inappropriate.

In plain "American" english for you more challenged individuals, it can be expected that when faced with violence and death that people will react accordingly, with violence and death.

    3. Atta boy you tell them illiterate rednecks how it is. They make reading a simple statement as you have made, sound like it's theoretical physics. If you jokers can't understand simple English get off this blog and go suck on your mama's titties or watch Duffy duck or Tom and Jerry or the Roadrunner, or Bugs Bunny or something closer to your level of intellect ie the water flowing our of the tab which I am sure would mesmerize you.

Having said that, this is a nice blog. I will follow.

  9. As a foreign volunteer who served in Vietnam with the Americans, I like to point out that just like now back then the press used to critize our "mistreatment" of the North Vietnamese without knowing the attrocities and tortures the North Vs were commiting on our boys. It is easy to pass judgement from the comfort of your livingroom. I like to see any of these "wanna be critics" put on the uniform, go to the front and experience the real conditions of war. I guarantee you they will come back with a changed view of the so called "unacceptable" behavior. What do you think the Talibs would do to an US marine corpse if they got their hands on one? Look at the pics Pkong posted and that's your answer. For what I care, those marines were probably just trying to wash the dead bodies but had no water to do it with. Uric acid can act as an anti-bacterial cleanser you know. How is that for an explanation?

  10. My only question is, why do we continue to send our troops into these conflicts? Let these assholes fight and die for their own freedoms!! Why should we be providing them with any assistance? They NEVER appreciate it and in the end we never gain any political or economic benefit from our involvment (e.g. installation of a more cooperative government, alliances). The people we go to help always turn their backs on us, "The West" once all has been said and done.

Fuck 'em. Let them kill themselves off in their civil wars and then deal with or masacre the victors.
