It is time to act and act now to provide these courageous people with some tangible help in the form of weapons and air cover. They don’t need us to do the fighting for them; they are quite capable of defeating the Gadhafis and their mercenaries on the ground on their own power. All they need is some protection from the air. Protection which the west can provide by declaring a no-fly zone over Libya long enough - for the revolutionaries to clean up the streets from the rat infestation which has plagued their country for decades. The global community has to act, and act now. Gadhafi is a paranoid schizophrenic psychopath and like Nero before him, he can and will set Libya ablaze. He, and his mentally degenerate sons and followers are not going to allow themselves to be captured and tried for crimes against humanity. They will die first. They are psychopathic narcissists who see themselves as demigods with the absolute divine right to control Libya and its people. We can’t sit around waiting for the UN to take the initiative. The UN has become the most incompetent, ineffective and in fact the most useless organization in the world. Let us not forget what happened in Rwanda, the Congo, the Sudan and Somalia. The global community has to act now or the global community will be the ones on trial for crimes against humanity.

I couldn't agree more. The time to act is now. The nut, in a corner and has nothing to lose. He will take down with him as many people as he can. Love your comment about the UN. I have been saying what a useless institution it is for years. If we dismantle the UN and take the money we pour into internationally, we will have enough money to eradicate hunger in the world in two years.

I have to admit that the western democracies are trying to do the right thing with the situation in Libya, but unfortunately is too little too late. Muammar "the crock-pot" Gadhafi bought himself a violin and he is about to start playing "Burn Tripoli Burn". What is ironic in this whole situation is that three weeks ago the same western democracies who are condemning the psycho now, were signing oil,constructtion, and weapons purchasing contracts with him. Now they don't seem to be able to find one goddamn nice thing to say about the asshole. Now that's a funny script to be shown on SNL. I guess $$$$$ does buy everything.

ReplyDeleteHere is a solution for the Libyans who want to free their country and it's quite simple.
ReplyDeleteThe rebels are in control of most of the country, in fact all of minus Tripoli. That means they have the weapon depots, all the experienced soldiers and officers and all the oil fields. Do not even attempt to go into Tripoli. Surrounded, cut it off of everything, communications, transportation, supply roots and put a siege to it. Take control of the sea ports and let Gadhaffi and his parasitic family and supporters starve to death if you have to. If they try to come out, butcher them like the mad dogs they are. Get the west to create a no-fly zone and guard the ports so none of his naval vessels escape and wait him out. You will have your Tripoli in your hands in four months without firing a shot.

Libya is about to experience civil war like nobody in the Arab world has seen yet. Within the next 2 days if the West can't stop Qaddafi and his goons, the blood will start flowing in the streets. That's the problem with the west. We don't act until it's too late. Remember the Holocaust? Hitler has given the west plenty of warning for what was about to happen. But we thought he was bluffing. The rest is history. 2 days and i hope i am wrong.

Already leaders and members of the populations of middle eastern countries are expressing anti-american, anti-west and anti-israel sentiments. Additionally, conspiracy theories are abounding. If we inject ourselves into the conflict, alterior motives will be suspected and considered confirmed. If we don't, then we're self serving assholes who only care about oil resources and have no regard for human life.
