What exactly is Turkey’s complaint about the U.S. resolution to brand the killing of 1.5 million Armenians during WWI- as “Genocide”?
C’mon Turks…isn’t it time you owned up to your historical crimes? Isn’t it time you showed the world that Turkey is a modern state comfortable in its own skin and willing to accept responsibility for her actions past present and future? You (Turks) cannot deny history. You cannot use your political pull to blackmail other nations into covering your crimes. History is called history because it documents facts. It’s not called His Story…its one word. History. Webster defines it as: A chronological record of significant events, an established record, a branch of knowledge that records and explains past events.
It’s not mythology, folklore or hearsay. It is facts. Events recorded –in this case- at the time of their occurrence. The events of 1915 are extremely well documented by more than one independent source. 1915 is not that long ago. International media, foreign diplomats, thousands of eye-witnesses and surviving victims of the BUTCHERY were there in flesh and blood. They saw it all - they experienced it all and lived through it all. Denying it only shows the Turkish fear of their own identity. The barbarity of the Ottoman Turks was as well known as that of Egyptian Pharaohs, Moses, David and Joshua the Persians, Alexander the Great, Caligula, Attila the Hun, the Crusaders, Genghis Khan and his Mongols; and in more modern times the French (Napoleon), German (Hitler) Russians (Stalin), the Americans (Hiroshima/Nagasaki), Rwanda, Darfur and the list goes on and on and on. So Turkey sits in pretty good company. The fact remains that what the Ottoman Turks perpetrated on the Armenians, was indeed “GENOCIDE”. A systematic, methodical racial extermination, a criminal act surpassed only by the Nazis twenty five years later. One can easily say that Hitler learned from the best. Throughout history, vicious crimes against humanity were committed by many nations. It is the nature of our inherent animalism. Turkey is not unique in that respect. Nobody is insinuating, not even for a moment, that the present day Turkish nation, is responsible for the awful crimes committed by a Turkish political entity ninety five years ago.
I am sure all the Armenian people want is an admission by the Turks that this crime was indeed a crime against humanity – GENOCIDE. End of Story.
This again is not News…It’s Human Reality!

Very well said. I love the part you include your own people the Americans in the group of murderers. Maybe the next time the Americans will include themselves in that exclusive club called the Genocide club.

I think Turkey should grow up and do what the Germans did. Admit and apologize. Then their prime minister should go to Armenia and as a gesture of good will and patch things up.

This is bull shit American style. The Turkish people have nothing to apologize for. It time of war and in war people die. The rest is Western propaganda. The West do not like Turks and it is a well known fact

You watch. The Americans will not let the resolution become official American acknowledgment. That would not be in their interests. We all know that Americans only do things which benefit their own global interests. Not what is necessarily the moral right thing to do. Need I remind you all Bosnia, Rwanda, Sudan?

Don't fool yourselves by believing that todays Turks are any better than the Turks of the genocide. They are of the same genetic material. It's in their DNA. Very hard to change.

100% right on brother. As an Armenian all I want is that admission of the crime committed. Nothing else. The Germans manned up to their crimes so should the Turks. Then we can move forward Turks and Armenians and heal the wounds. I am sure Armenians and Turks can live peacefully beside each other.

Why do you hate the Turks so much?
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't genocide, it was clearing out the riff-ruff.
I wish we had the balls to do it here with all the spics running around.

M. Hayes just keep in mind that when we go down that road, you never know who will be next. I mean once we get rid of the "spics" what makes you think that the next group to get rid of will not be "losers" like you. As the saying goes "watch what you wish for".

I am Turkish presently residing in Germany. I am inclined to agree with the article. Present day Turkish people had nothing to do with those events. We should admit to ownership of our past and move on. I think that would be cathartic for the Turkish nation and Armenians and Turks can live together as good neighbours once again.

Fair article.

I think our government worries too much about Turkey's feelings. What are they going to do stop trading with us. They get one $billion a year in military aid from us. Give me a break. They are always playing hardball with us as if we are the enemy. Fuck them. I am tired of sending American taxpayer's $'s to foreigners. Any foreigners. Time to clean up our own back yard first before we worry about Turks and Europeans and Arabs and Africans and Asians. What the hell do they think we are? Every one's godfather?

When the Turks recalled home their ambassador our government should have withdrawn the military and foreign aid we give the them. That would send them a clear message that they can't interfere with our domestic political decisions.
